Velvet Starlings

Christian Gisborne is an indie rock singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and the front man of Velvet Starlings. With the vocal power and feel of 60s era Eric Burdon and the commanding stage presence and performance style of Jack White, he has been compared to indie festival garage rockers White Stripes, Cage The Elephant and Ty Segal, though his earliest musical influences were The Beatles, The Who, The Doors, Kinks and Stones.

Christian made his stage debut at the age of 12 at “Keep Chico Creative”, a Northern California music and arts festival, which draws 8,000 people annually. His impressive vocal and guitar performance captured the attention of local media, resulting in regular features on local NBC news affiliate Action News Now in his home town of Chico. At 13, Christian was invited to perform for internationally renowned PBS-distributed multimedia show “Wood Songs Old Time Radio Hour” a celebration of grassroots music filmed in Lexington, Kentucky. Christian soon began making his mark on the indie rock music scene in 2017, playing high profile shows, including the prestigious Gibson Showroom in Beverly Hills, opening for Robby Krieger (The Doors). He performed at The Hotel Café and San Diego’s 8th Annual Springboard West Festival at the Ocean Beach Theater in early 2018, where he shared the stage with up and coming artists The Jacks and KROQ “Locals Only” Your Favorite Color. Velvet Starlings has also performed many shows for Sofar Sounds Los Angeles. In March, 2018 Velvet Starlings toured to SXSW to play sponsored gigs alongside other more established indie artists, including label mates, KLEZ and MAWD.
