Lord & Lady combines the vocal and songwriting talents of Scott Oatley and Rachel Panchal. Both have sung for well-known TV/Film projects, including Glee, The Simpsons, La La Land, SING, and more. The duo has received high praise for their YouTube hit, “La La Land Medley,” which went viral, garnering 5 million views, and was featured at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics during Kristina Astakhova and Alexey Rogonov’s pairs free skate performance.
Scott and Rachel met in a classic L.A. songwriter sort of way, through Judy Stakee, a famed music publisher who signed and developed artists like Katy Perry and Sheryl Crow. Rachel was interning for Stakee when she had just left Warner/Chappell to launch her own artist development company, and Scott was enrolled in her workshops. Drawing on her years of experience pairing top-notch talent together, she thought they would make a winning songwriting team.
With the release of their debut EP, Lord & Lady received many accolades for their original songs, including the International Acoustic Music Award for Best Group/Duo. Their most recent EP, No Ghost, is a collaboration with veteran producer, Steve Shebby (Neon Trees, We The Kings, Hugh Jackman, Iron Man 3). The project was successfully fan-funded on Kickstarter, and contains cool, edgy tracks that are more in the alt-pop vein than their straightforward singer-songwriter leaning debut.
